Before you begin

  • Temporarily disable your antivirus during installation (and reactivate it afterwards).
    Ideal: add as an exception installation files to avoid false positives.

  • Work on a Windows administrator session.

  • Close self-starting software (antivirus, security services, “tuning/USB” suites, etc.).

  • Recommended versions V231 and V234 are the most stable offline. Higher versions (≥ V237) may require online/token access and are often less compatible offline.

 

What you need to have

  1. Software archive

  • CAN CLIP V231.zip ( V234.zip / V236.zipcontaining Setup.exe

  1. Archive Drivers & Activation

  • DRIVERS ET ACTIVATION CAN CLIP.zip including, in particular:

    • install.mp4 (Installation video – optional)

    • Install Fix.reg (pre-installation registry patch)

    • DOSSIER VCI 3 : V9.0.1422.248.exe (VCI 3 pilots)

    • DOSSIER VCI 1 : Bosch Driver.exe et RENAULT VCI Driver 1.8.9.0708.exe (VCI 1 pilots / Renault VCI)

    • setup-Register.exe (software activation)
    • Word documents for the Wi-Fi mode (VCI 3)

Unzip each archive in its own folder (right click → Extract).

 

 




Step A — System Preparation

  1. Unzip CAN CLIP V231.zip (or your version) in un dossier sur votre bureau.

  2. Unzip DRIVERS ET ACTIVATION CAN CLIP.zip in un dossier sur votre bureau.

  3. Double click Install Fix.regYes for adding to the registry.

    This patch prepares the installation environment.

     

 



 

Step B — Software Installation

  1. Open the CAN CLIP installation folder and launch Setup.exe.

  2. Choose FIRST INSTALLATION.

  3. Accept the contract → Next.

  4. Choose the languageNext → continue.

  5. Let the installer work (a few minutes).

  6. PC restarts automatically.
    → At this stage, CAN CLIP is installed.

 

 




Step C — Activation (official license)

  1. Go to C:\CLIP_X91\Lib\Application\ and run RSRWin.exe.

  2. Click: “I Understand…”“Register me now”.

  3. Next, open the provided key generator:
    setup-Register.exe

     

     

  4. In the generator, enter:

    The serial number displayed previously,

    The date: 31/12/29
    Then click on Generate.

    Note: Depending on the configuration, these fields may already be filled in. In that case, simply click Generate.
    The activation key is displayed in the lower field.

     

  5. Copy this activation key, return to the Clip Registration window, paste the key into the provided field, and then validate.

  6. Activation is now complete and functional.

 

 




Step D — Driver (probe) installation

 

If you have a IVC 1 (Renault VCI, equipment manufactured before 2025)

  1. install Bosch Driver.exe.

  2. install RENAULT VCI Driver 1.8.9.0708.exe.

  3. (Optional) Before opening CAN CLIP, launch Renault VCI Driver to check/update firmware et license of the probe if necessary.

 

If you have a IVC 3 (recent equipment, since 2025)

  1. install V9.0.1422.248.exe (VCI 3 drivers) and follow the assistant. “VCI Manager (RNM)” is created on the desktop.

  2. Connect the VCI 3 to the PC (USB).

    • Windows will display “Device not recognized” a few seconds → it's normal.

    • The probe beep once it is recognized and the two right red lights on the probe are lit (PC and Power Supply).

  3. Launch from your desktop “VCI Manager (RNM)”.

    • Check that the probe appears with a SN: xxxxx.

    • Click Login.

  4. Close VCI Manager (RNM) before launching CAN CLIP. This does not interrupt the connection, but this step is essential for the software to function correctly.

  5. Launch CAN CLIP from the Desktop shortcut.

 

 




Step E — First use and checks

  • USB cable well inserted, contact made on the vehicle.

  • In CAN CLIP, check the VCI detection.

  • If you use a VCI 3 via Wi-Fi, Follow him Word document included for configuration (SSID, password, AP/Client mode, etc.).

 

 




Best practices & common pitfalls

  • Pilot conflict do not install the two families Install drivers (VCI1 and VCI3) "in bulk" on the same machine. only those corresponding to business probe.

  • Antivirus : think about reactivate the antivirus after installation and to set an exception the folder C:\CLIP_X91\

  • USB & power supply : use a rear USB port (desktop PC) and avoid unpowered hubs.

  • Windows compatibility : execute in AdministratorIf there is an error, test the compatibility mode (right click → Properties → Compatibility).

  • Versions ≥ V237 : often less functional offline and likely to require Tokens Online → prefer V231 / V234 for offline.

 

 




Rapid troubleshooting

  • CAN CLIP does not see the probe

    • VCI 1: Reinstall Bosch Driver + Renault VCI DriverConnect directly via USB, then restart the PC.

    • VCI 3: Make sure you have installed V9.0.1422.248.exereconnect the probe (wait for beep), open VCI Manager (RNM)Login → close → launch CAN CLIP.

  • Message “Device not recognized” persistent (VCI 3)

    • Change USB ports, restart, reinstall the VCI 3 package.

  •  

  • Installer blocked

    • Return to a clean Windows installation (without any other diagnostic suites running), disable third-party services, and clear the disk. %temp%Restart as Admin.

 



Final checklist

  • Antivirus disabled during installation then reactivated

  • Install Fix.reg applied

  • CAN CLIP installed (FIRST INSTALLATION) + restart

  • Bachelor Degrees activated via RSRWin.exe

  • Pilotes corresponding to business probes installed (VCI 1 ou VCI 3)

  • VCI 3: VCI Manager (RNM)Login → close before CAN CLIP

  • CAN CLIP launched successfully, sensor recognized, vehicle test successful
